Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE: The Equipment Manager is responsible for the overall performance and efficiency of all aspects of equipment repair, service and replacement companywide, additionally supporting the business by managing external vendor relationships. The performance of the company will be driven by a deep understanding of equipment performance, and the impact of keeping each facility running efficiently. An intimate knowledge of the products and tooling guidelines, coupled with extensive vendor relationships, will be used to drive critical improvements in cost containment and throughput efficiencies. In this role, it is paramount that decisions and actions are data driven, measured, and refined, providing the most impact to the organization. Strong collaboration and interdepartmental communication will be crucial for the success of the role, by overseeing the deployment of capital resources and

support.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Manage companywide equipment repair, maintenance, replacement, and service programs to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and minimal downtime.
  • Manage service channel tickets by providing timely and responsive support to company locations for equipment-related issues and coordinating resolution with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Administer capital expenditure (CapEx) requests for equipment purchases by reviewing requests, coordinating approvals, maintaining documentation, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines and audit requirements.
  • Evaluate equipment repair versus replacement decisions by balancing operational needs, cost effectiveness, and long-term business value.
  • Monitor equipment performance, utilization, repair trends, and service response times to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiencies.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend new equipment, tooling, and emerging technologies to improve productivity, standardization, and overall operational performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine standardized equipment specifications and approved tooling lists to support consistency across the organization.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to ensure quality service, favorable pricing, and timely support.
  • Analyze vendor performance and identify opportunities to improve service levels, reduce costs, and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Leverage internal and external reporting tools to analyze equipment performance, response times, repair costs, utilization, and other key performance indicators to support data-driven decision making.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to evaluate repair and maintenance (R&M) expenditures, balancing capital (CapEx) and operating (OpEx) costs while considering the impact on production, operational efficiency, and overall business performance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements that enhance equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize overall equipment lifecycle management.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to operational leaders regarding equipment maintenance, replacement planning, and best practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, collision repair equipment, tooling, and technological advancements to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners to support operational objectives, strategic initiatives, and company growth.
  • Travel to company locations, vendors, and other business-related sites as needed to support operational initiatives and equipment management activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Automotive Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing equipment, tooling, fleet, facilities, or related operational programs, preferably within the collision repair or automotive industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing vendor relationships, equipment service providers, and capital equipment purchases.
  • Strong knowledge of collision repair equipment, tooling, repair principles, operational processes, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Experience evaluating capital (CapEx) and operating (OpEx) expenditures while balancing operational priorities and financial objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational and financial data, identify trends, and develop data-driven recommendations.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and effectively partner with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build consensus across multiple departments without direct authority.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, make informed decisions, and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to providing responsive support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability and ownership for delivering results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience utilizing Power BI or similar reporting and business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Teams and other virtual collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as business needs require.
